Guest Q&A: Warren Wucinich

Las Vegas’ own Warren Wucinich is a fantastic illustrator, in-demand caricature artist, and suave man-about-town, but he’s likely best known as a comic book colorist, especially for his work on Oni Press’ Courtney Crumrin series. Wucinich will share his hint and tips for digital coloring during a show-and-tell panel at 1 p.m. during this year’s VVCBF. We asked him some questions to get to know him better:

1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you– no, no wait…

2. What is your greatest fear?
Stagnation. Complacency

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’m horrible with time management. I was even late turning in this questionnaire.

4. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
I get to draw for a living.

5. What do you most dislike about yourself?
I am not Superman.

6. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
“Totally” and “like.” Evidently, I’m a 14-year-old girl.

7. What is your most treasured possession?
My MacBook. I’d be lost without it.

8. The quality you most admire in a person?
Motivation. Ambition. But not take-over-the-world ambition. Not step-on-others motivation. Ambition with a sense of fairness is sexy.

9. What supernatural gift would you most like to possess?
The ability to go without food or sleep. Imagine the time and money saved…

10. What is your favorite food?
Pie.

11. What is your favorite color?
Orange.

12. Who is your favorite fictional character?
Right now it’s Lying Cat. Last summer is was my Skyrim character. And before that it was Sarah Palin.

13. Who is your favorite person in history?
Benjamin Franklin.

14. Who are your favorite writers?
H.G. Wells, David Wong, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Tina Fey, Jonathan Hickman, Jane Espenson.

15. DC, Marvel, Lovecraft or Whedon Universe?
That’s like asking if I prefer chocolate, vanilla, Munich or the color turquoise.

16. What is your motto?
To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you– no, no wait…
