Guests and programming announced for 2013

Greg Rucka Georges Jeanty

Greg Rucka and Georges Jeanty are just two of the many guests who will be attending the Vegas Valley Comic Book Fest.

Acclaimed novelist and comic book writer Greg Rucka and fan-favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer artist Georges Jeanty will be joined by Chris Staros, Warren Wucinich, Spencer Brinkerhoff III and other guests when the annual Vegas Valley Comic Book Fest returns to the Clark County Library (1401 E. Flamingo Road) for its sixth year on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

In addition to fans being able to peruse comics, toys and other merchandise at the many vendor booths in our courtyard marketplace, they can also meet artists, writers and independent publishers in Artist Alley, participate in a fun-filled costume contest, and enjoy tasty treats from local food trucks. This year’s programming includes panel discussions with our guests, how-to sessions on drawing and digital coloring, intensive writing workshops, film screenings, and much more.

Once again, live music will also be a distinctive feature of the Comic Book Fest, as local geek-punk trio 3D6 and Memphis-based nerdcore rapper/internet sensation Adam Warrock take the stage inside the library’s main theater to perform songs based on comic books, gaming, television and more. As well, this year’s event will offer more activities for children, including superhero mask-making, face painting, and the return of our popular Art Jam.

Fans can upgrade their experience by pre-registering for a VIP package. For only $5, guests will receive a special VIP badge, swag bag filled with comics, art and other freebies donated by publishers and local businesses, preferred seating at panels, screenings and concerts, and a limited-edition poster, with proceeds benefiting the Comic Book Fest. VIP registration is limited to 100 packages and going fast, so get yours now!

Applications are also being accepted for vendors, artists and publishers wishing to exhibit in the marketplace or Artist Alley. The early-bird discount ends July 1, and space is very limited, so potential vendors are encouraged to apply ASAP, because this year’s fest will be a sell-out!
